<text>This article deals with the symbolic construction carried out by the Korean immigrant group settled in Argentina regarding its different modes of connection with the receiving context. These modes are expressed through categories such as “adaptation”, “Argentinization”, and “integration”. They are shaped by various components, including language, work, friendship, and nationality, which connect different conceptual spaces and emphasize the issue of identity.
From a methodological point of view, this paper follows the guidelines of discourse analysis and cognitive semiotics, finding affinities with notions proposed by contemporary cognitive sciences, such as “conceptual integration” or “blending”, “mental spaces and blended spaces” (G. Fauconnier, 1994; G. Fauconnier and Turner, 1998), and “dynamic unity” (N. Mandelblit and O. Zachar, 1998).</text>

It is in this field that, in the author’s view, in more than one specific analytical text, the character allows the mirage of an anthropomorphic essence to seep through—an essence supposedly dismissed by theory.
This paper attempts to demonstrate, through Roger Odin’s semio-pragmatic approach, that the “representational” or “real” nature of the documentary character and the “imaginary” or “fictional” nature of the fictional character share more than one aspect of their semiotic functioning.</text>

<text>This paper presents a possible and fruitful theoretical intersection between the triadic semiotic model developed by C. S. Peirce and certain key notions from the social sciences, as formulated by some of their early thinkers, such as Durkheim and Sorel, as well as by modern continuators, such as Anderson and Kolakowski. Around the concepts of myth, ritual, and the imaginary, it is possible to establish a dialogue with the basic elements of Peircean semiotics. The purpose of this reflection is not so much to present a thesis on what the confluence between the social sciences and triadic semiotics might look like, but rather to point toward a possible path for future inquiry.</text>

<text>The work carried out on Antonio Buero Vallejo’s dramatic production (Project No. 593, CIUNSa) has made it possible to corroborate the presence of certain recurrent isotopies: fate, truth, human responsibility for one’s actions, physical defects as essential limitations, and the tension between active and contemplative characters. The appearance of the playwright’s last known text, Las trampas del azar, seems to mark a return to the realist aesthetics that he had abandoned after his first text, Historia de una escalera. Indeed, in both works there is a chronological thread linking the intersecting history of two generations.
We will attempt to carry out a semiotic reading that accounts for the meaning of generational isotopic repetition in Las trampas del azar, as well as its relationship with the notions of fate and chance. At the same time, we will examine the connections these terms establish with the universe of meaning of Buero Vallejo’s dramatic production in order to determine whether or not they modify the construct of tragedy previously developed by the author.</text>

<text>Among the conditions of production that generally affect contemporary Spanish American theatre, the adaptation of canonical narrative texts deserves special attention. This phenomenon forms part of the discursive strategy of rewriting, a problem we are investigating within Project No. 312 at the National University of Salta. An illustrative example is La cándida Eréndira, an adaptation by the Colombian director Miguel Torres based on the short story of the same name and other texts by Gabriel García Márquez.
Starting from the reverse process of the creation of the new text, that is, from the decomposition of the rewriting work, we will attempt to corroborate—or refute—the hypotheses that have been proposed to explain it:
- There is a shortage of playwrights.- The limited existing theatre lacks conflict, often because of its obvious political discourse.- There is an increasing tendency to “theatricalize” the texts of our great narrators, since they are considered to contain the roots of our identity.- Theatrical productivity in Spanish America is developing through the increasingly predominant figure of the director.
Our aim is to show that Spanish American theatrical rewriting arises as a way of promoting a dramaturgy that has not yet fully developed, unlike Spanish production, which rewrites as a result of the exhaustion of the system.</text>

              <elementText elementTextId="22741">

Examining the structural fabric of a tragic episode attributable to Rosas’s tyranny reveals the presence of the political debate of the period.
Through the theory of the imaginary, it becomes possible to observe that the narrative strategies characteristic of Gorriti’s writing challenge forms of complicity with the regime.
Gorriti’s writing explicitly legitimizes the prescribed role of women; however, her female characters conform to what the Enlightenment and Liberalism prescribe for the gender.</text>

<text>This paper seeks to unravel the meaning of the “non-fictional” fabric that emerges from the montage of journalistic interviews in the contemporary Argentine novel.
This field of writing presents points of conflict: temporal proximity and the controversial nature of its characters. It therefore becomes necessary for the novelist to adopt new strategies and for criticism to develop new perspectives on reading.
The case of Tomás Eloy Martínez as a producer of literature on Perón and Evita leads us to consider the complexity of narrative techniques that translate into “historical objectivity”.
Regarding the results, it may be stated that both La novela de Perón (1985) and Santa Evita (1995) function as textual surfaces on which it is possible to read aspects of national culture that are often at odds with the image of a Europeanized nation and, therefore, closer in their manifestations to Latin America.</text>

<text>The conception of the literary as the result of historical processes and social conventions of reading has gained strength over the last ten years, disrupting traditional forms of knowledge concerning literature. In research, therefore, a cultural-semiotic approach, supported by a diversity of theoretical proposals, has become necessary. Within this framework, three issues are outlined: the ontological, the epistemological, and the lecturological, corresponding, respectively, to the object of literary studies, the theories that have addressed it, and reading praxis.
The aim of this paper is to develop these three levels and to reflect on the possibilities that emerge when literary textuality is considered in relation to other cultural texts.</text>

<text>This paper is part of a research project on Salta writing in the 1990s. The narrative production of Juan Ahuerma Salazar was analyzed with the aim of contrasting it with the “canonical” literature of Salta. To approach this production, two theories from different frameworks were brought into play: García Canclini’s cultural theory and Angenot and Robin’s theory of social discourse and its textualization.
The analysis of the procedures used in this narrative made it possible to confirm the hypothesis of its discursive hybridization and its consequent rupture with the dominant realist canons in narrative writing from Salta. In conclusion, a paradigm shift can be inferred within the regional sphere, coexisting with the demystification of historical discourse carried out in “national” and “Latin American” literature.</text>

Theatre, “as literature of dialogue and as literature of action”, according to Veltrusky, is the form that best allows for an interpretation of Argentine reality.
For this paper, we have selected Antígona furiosa by Griselda Gambaro and Sophocles’ classic Antigone. Through comparative analysis, both texts make it possible to explain the repetition of the history of power and the power of history to reconstruct itself.</text>

This paper focuses especially on the writing of Teresa Leonardi Herrán, who, continuing a line of significant rupture that began in the 1940s, emerged as the female voice par excellence of the 1960s. Existential conflict, crisis with the paternal model, awareness of reality, and commitment to the historical moment make her writing a testimony of maturity and poetic renewal.</text>

<text>Since the subject of enunciation is inscribed in language, and since language, as a social institution, may serve as an indicator of a speaker’s belonging to a particular historical community, this paper studies attitudes toward the mother tongue among Bolivian bilingual speakers of Quechua and Spanish residing in the capital city of the province of Jujuy, on the border with the Republic of Bolivia.
The corpus of analysis was obtained through participant observation techniques and recorded interviews with Bolivian speakers of Quechua and Spanish living in a neighborhood of the provincial capital. The identification and subsequent classification of our informants’ linguistic attitudes were carried out through the application of sociolinguistic methodology and a multiple-component framework, including cognitive, affective, and behavioral components.
The results obtained reveal three types of attitudes: positive, which is the majority attitude; negative; and insecurity, in decreasing order. These attitudes are generally associated with ethnicity as an identity marker.
The conclusions of this study open a space for reflection on the continuing relevance of Quechua-Spanish bilingualism among Bolivians residing in Jujuy.</text>

<text>This paper studies the evolution of the use of abbreviations in five wills from Jujuy archives dating from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
The frequency of abbreviations recorded in our corpus of analysis, together with the limited bibliography available on the subject, led us to undertake this study. Its main objective is to observe the evolution of these forms by comparing the wills under analysis with current usage.
Methodologically, we have followed the classificatory system used by Millares Carlo for the paleographic study of medieval and Renaissance texts.
The comparison of the forms, taking into account the procedures used in the formation of abbreviations, makes it possible to classify them as follows: a) evolved forms; b) regressive forms; c) forms fallen into disuse; d) preserved forms; and e) vacillating forms.
Our conclusions suggest that the few rules of abbreviation existing in seventeenth-century written language may have been transmitted through oral tradition and that, in the following century, even though the Royal Spanish Academy had already regulated their use, abbreviation procedures continued to depend largely on the scribe’s cultural background.</text>

<text>This paper set out to analyze the effects produced by television on the perception, interpretation, and cognition of students entering the Faculty of Humanities at the National University of Salta, Argentina. Interest in this issue arose from the difficulties shown by students in the course Idioma Nacional in recognizing and producing argumentative academic texts.
The study reached the following conclusion: there is a perverse dialectic. On the one hand, audiovisual texts shape forms of perception, interpretation, and cognition in students that come into conflict with those associated with the logosphere, or orality, and the graphosphere, or writing. On the other hand, the deconstruction of such audiovisual texts is indispensable, since they form part of our students’ encyclopedia. Paradoxically, this deconstructive reading requires competencies developed within the linguistic register.
We believe that the interaction between audiovisual and linguistic literacy could constitute an alternative pedagogical proposal for addressing this problem.</text>
