<text>In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic created a scenario of utmost uncertainty and confusion due to the socio-health crisis caused by the rapid spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. This article aims to know and comprehend the beliefs, representations, and practices of various sectors of the Argentine citizenry during the COVID-19 pandemic, based on the qualitative analysis of 142 semi-structured interviews conducted across different regions. We found that religious-spiritual beliefs facilitated the transmutation of pain and misunderstanding into relative certainties and hopes, and no new religious affiliations or disaffiliations were recorded. The religious and spiritual activities carried out in homes showed significant levels of participation and interest by individuals in establishing a connection with God or a transcendent plane as therapeutic supports. Prayer was the predominant practice among Catholics, Evangelicals, and those without religious affiliation. Regarding attitudes toward vaccination, religious beliefs were not considered a factor when deciding whether to accept or reject the vaccine. Among the citizenry, there is a predominant trust in the advances of science and in the precautions of their communities to avoid infection from the virus. Finally, the connections with loved ones and the coordination between religious communities, social, political, and state organizations, and neighbourhood networks to perform solidarity activities, consolidated a support network that sustained individuals across different territories during the most critical moments of the pandemic.</text>

<text>The article examined the Hittite royalty as a ruling family composed of a network of elites where sociability and power were part of a complex web of political, religious, and familial practices. To do so, the study focused on the Late Bronze Age, during a period marked by imperial practices, geographically centered in the region of Western Asia. The research scope covered the reigns of Šuppiluliuma I and Muršili II, along with their royal wives and children, both in Hattusa and in the “contested borderlands” (Gestoso Singer, 2006). The purpose was to investigate the Hittite royalty as a power network through certain historical documents and reconstruct the ties and relationships between these two kings and their ruling family, thereby unravelling a possible “genealogy of power” where kinship, political and cultural practices, and specific knowledge, notably military and religious, could be studied as central nodes. The objectives were to present the complex relational nature of Hittite royalty with its imperial practices, contrasting the traditional view of male warrior kingship, and to propose an interpretation of Hittite royalty as a network of interconnected families within palace contexts. The research questions were: How did the Hittite ruling elite structure and influence social networks and power relationships within the palace and between royal families? And how were these networks and power relationships represented in their documents? Methodologically, the study incorporated social network analysis through a historical anthropology approach, combined with the evidential paradigm, to examine and disentangle ancient historical documents that were not genealogies or king lists but Military Feats and inter-royal Treaties. The chosen key categories were elite, networks of sociability, and power.</text>

<text>The writing intends to share, in essay form, a set of philosophical reflections emanating from the commitment to bring to the scene that tragic air that we breathe, impregnated by countless particles of suffering and injustice, which seem to multiply with the passing of the days. Along with this, a thick veil of indifference and insensitivity that covers them is also increasingly perceived. But it is still possible to find restless subjectivities and collective resistance movements that work to change the bad side of what exists. From there, a search movement is imposed that leads us to this adventure of problematizing and problematizing ourselves by the course of the world in which we are immersed and feeling questioned by it. Blanchot (2008) points out that the question of our time is always pressing; it surrounds us, it comes from us, it points to us, and it itself forms part of time. By being trapped in the passage of time, it always remains open to new problems and forces us to start asking questions anew. It is an interrogation that continues incessantly because the criticality that it puts into action prevents the closure of any thought about itself, but, at the same time, it is urgent to risk an understanding of our historical materiality.</text>

<text>This article investigates an experience of collective land and housing occupation developed during the 21st century in the city of Tandil (Buenos Aires, Argentina). Specifically, the process of collective occupation carried out from 2009 -to date-, on land and houses belonging to the works of the Federal Plan, in the La Movediza neighbourhood. The problem of knowledge investigates the ways of accessing the urban habitat in the process of capitalist urbanization, based on the study of an experience of territorialized social struggle in a differential space of a peripheral neighborhood in the interior of the province.Particularly, the forms, strategies, and experiences of urban social struggle were addressed as an object. In turn, the objectives of the work focused on the reconstruction of the experience of urban social struggle, taking into account both the confrontation actions, as well as the territorialities expressed in them, in order to know how the strategies of struggle and organization were built social, political and territorial. The methodological approach was qualitative, developing a historical and territorial method to empirically study experiences of urban social struggle through various sources of information. Likewise, the techniques used were documentary research, digital information survey with logical operators and oral history interviews. The results obtained allowed us to deepen the study of differential spaces from an experience of urban social struggle developed in a medium-sized city in the interior of the province of Buenos Aires.Likewise, they allowed an approximation to the inhabited dimension and to the territorialities built during the process of collective occupation of lands and houses of the Federal Plan, inviting to reflect on the political and territorial characteristics of the urban social struggle and its link with spatial inequalities and injustices, the counterspaces and the construction of territorialities of resistance.</text>

<text>In the last ten years, the organizational processes that link excluded workers to the formal capitalist economy have gained public and academic relevance. This sector known today as the Popular Economy has grown quantitatively and qualitatively because of the expansion of its work activities and the ability to make visible its problems and demands, having relative success in its claims. Beyond the diverse contentious range of issues of these organizations, there is a fact that has adopted centrality in this process of visualizing the demands of the popular economy: the March of Saint Cayetano for Peace, Bread, Earth, Roof, and Labour. This mobilization convened by the organizations of the popular economy, which is referenced in a long-standing festivity in Argentina, mixed popular religiosity, and political struggle, first carried out in August 2016, in times of the government of Cambiemos, for its strong media and political impact. These projects, beyond generating debate and having dissimilar results, managed to expose socially the reality of the popular sectors in Argentina during a neoliberal government. In this regard, our qualitative approach will focus on the analysis of the various bills presented by the organizations and the link with socio-economic contexts based on academic works and technical-statistical reports. We concluded the work by pointing out the relevance of the San Cayetano marches in the framework of political resistance processes and the visibility of the demands of the organizations of the Popular Economy during the government of Cambiemos.</text>

<text>The purpose of this work is to address the unique articulation between the kirchnerist discourse and the piquetero movement from the perspective of the Political Theory of discourse, using the articulation method from two sources: the available bibliography of different theoretical perspectives and journalistic news. This problem is important since different theoretical-political perspectives have consolidated the hypothesis of the co-option of the piqueteros by kirchnerism. Against that interpretation, this work maintains that said articulatory process generated an identity bond between the Kirchner signifier and the piqueteros made possible by the equivalence in the constitutive exteriority: the neoliberal discourse. The radical inclusion of the piqueteros introduced excess into the political community, pushing the limits of official discourse to advance beyond the limits of what was possible and thinkable and, at the same time, allowed the constitution of the piqueteros as a social movement. -political, which were part of a series of heterogeneous demands, overflowing their particularism. The new social movements were no longer limited to just discussing social programs and subsidies, but rather defining the contours of order in its generality and articulating many more heterogeneous demands; This is what we call in the conclusions the logic of excess.</text>

In this way, traveling through this world allows an approach to recurring themes such as alienation and discrimination that, if from different disciplines, delve into topics of a social nature, also from the literary perspective it refers us to the work of authors who direct their norths to a demanding recipient full of questions. “Alienation and discrimination within the family: the figure of “the section” in the children’s and youth stories of Luis Carlos Suárez” is a way of reviewing the very essence of society and incorporating works to the long list of literary creations in the country start from a sensitivity for diverse and revealing themes and constitute, in fact, a contribution to Cuban publishing houses which contribute to the cultural development of the nation. By virtue of this, delving into both the writers and their texts would allow expanding the cultural and patrimonial knowledge of Cuba from aesthetic and social perspectives identified with the contemporary tendencies of the genre representative of the social problems of the period. The interpretation of the corpus is carried out from the tracing of the stories of the writer from Granma, to analyze the particular ways in which the unit produces meanings in its textualization, having as its center the aforementioned scourges.</text>

<text>The traditional philosophy of science maintains that science is evaluatively neutral and objective. This thesis supposes the absence of personal and group biases, as well as supposedly extra-scientific values such as political, economic, cultural, etc. This position has been criticized from various perspectives, some of which deny the autonomy and objectivity of scientific knowledge. In contrast, we argue that acknowledging the interference of values and interests and advocating social control and scientific responsibility do not imply the denial of the ideals of objectivity and autonomy, but that they are even necessary to obtain an objective knowledge of the world and maintain the independence of judgment in scientific practices. For this reason, we consider that it is important to analyze the senses of objectivity and autonomy to define which are desirable to maintain and which should be abandoned.</text>

<text>In recent decades, the production of urban space in Latin America has been characterized by the intensification of socio-territorial inequalities, a process resulting from the commodification of urban development identified as spatial injustice. The article makes visible how these processes occur in a peripheral neighborhood during the period of isolation imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The objective is to recognize the needs and problems in public housing neighborhoods and the strategies for social reproduction developed in contexts of urban segregation and fragmentation in Córdoba (Argentina). Two housing complexes from the “Mi Casa Mi Vida” program, located on the urban fringes, are taken as a case. The methodology is qualitative; it combined the reading and analysis of the urban location and the evolution of the environment with interviews with key informants. From the Atlas.ti software, categories and interpretation codes were built, expressed in four dimensions: health care and prevention of COVID-19; the development of daily activities in the management of satisfiers, for basic needs such as food; access to connectivity and resignifications of living, especially housing and public space. The results validate how the conditions of physical isolation, residential segregation, and the structural deficiencies of the population intensify the conditions of spatial injustice. Likewise, the significant role of the institutions located in the neighborhoods and social organizations is evident in the strategies of social reproduction and management of public policies.</text>

<text>The existence of fan communities or fandoms dates back several decades, but since the late 1990s, a series of transformations in their emergence and dynamics have occurred. Nowadays, being a fan is an increasingly frequent way of connecting with cultural products and with other people in relation to that consumption. This work intends to describe the practices of the fans, show their changes from the late 1990s and early 2000s on, and analyze these changes in relation to the transformations in the sociocultural context. To do this, I focused on foreign fantasy literature fandoms through a case study of the fandom of the Harry Potter saga in Argentina. This fandom is one of the most massive and has the greatest media impact in Argentina and the world. Its example is representative of current fandoms. To carry out the objectives, an anthropological methodology focused on classical and digital ethnographic fieldwork was mainly used. I argue that the changes that fandoms went through can be understood in terms of the transformations in the sociohistorical context: economic and cultural globalization, accelerated technological changes, and identity conflicts typical of postmodernity, among others.</text>

<text>The food situation among the working classes has been affected recently, because of the economic crisis as well as the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. In this context, based on qualitative research in La Plata area, we analyze the novel features of food consumption in low-income households made up of children, focusing on the practical and situated senses that model specific family consumption arrangements. It highlights a scenario of ruptures and partial continuities with respect to the previous situation that contributed to the configuration of food worlds in scenarios of social inequality. In this sense, within a broader framework of economic hardship that popular households were experiencing and that was already having an impact on household consumption, new features associated with the unusual worsening of the economic situation of families, restrictions on mobility for making purchases, and the mobilization of short-term strategies to manage shortages were superimposed, and the mobilization of short-term strategies to manage shortages (such as the multiplication of sources of access to food - which led to the articulation of mercantile and non-mercantile logics of supply - and the intensification of practices such as “price shopping” and maximizing food preparations).</text>

<text>In October 2021, a “quiet place in the middle of the Pampa Bonaerense” made headlines in the local press for what was initially described as “discomfort and concern about the installation of an antenna”. A group of neighbors had initiated a series of demands with the aim of stopping the installation of a 45-meter-high communications tower in the center of a Russian-German neighborhood known for its rural tourism. The resulting dispute was quickly characterized as the conflict over the Colonia Bonita antenna. In this article, based on ethnographic fieldwork circumscribed to the case, we reconstruct the process of this dispute and its integration in local politics, to understand it not as the result of the installation of a tower, but as a product of previous disputes.</text>

<text>The isolation provided by the expansion of COVID-19 worldwide restricted the movement of the population and their attendance at workplaces for most of the activities, causing significant losses in production and changes in the labour market despite mitigating public measures. The article addresses the effects on economic activity and employment in Jujuy associated with the pandemic during the biennium 2020-2021, comparing them with results for the country as a whole and the NOA region. The methods used are documentary and statistical analysis. The study is based on the evidence that, although the crisis was widespread, it did not affect all activities and workers equally, and the recovery has sometimes been insufficient and segmented. On the one hand, results show that the impact of the health crisis on the provincial economy was lower than the national average and that the building and mining sectors suffered the greatest losses. On the other hand, other economic areas, such as health and financial activity, were favoured in this context. Although Jujuy’s small and middle enterprises were the largest beneficiaries of national support programmes, small enterprises were most affected. The structure of employment also suffered alterations, but the economic recovery made it possible to restore employment to previous levels. Among other findings, it is noteworthy that discouraged workers, who withdrew from the labor market momentarily, grew in quantity, especially women, especially young women, who faced higher levels of unemployment. There was also a reduction in formal wage employment in the private sector, while the public sector and self-employment did not act as a refuge, unlike other crises.</text>
