<text>Reproductive strategies are framed by the specific ecological constraints faced by each human group. The natural reproductive patterns of the Wichí are explored by taking into consideration the available energy that underlies their ancestral hunter-gatherer pattern. At puberty, when investment in growth slows down, women begin investing in reproduction. They then face a trade-off between continuing their growth for some time longer and beginning their reproductive cycle.
Once the reproductive stage has begun, the balance must be established between the energy reserved for reproduction and that directed toward maintenance, enabling them to reach a new reproductive phase. The reproductive histories of Wichí women are analyzed in order to inquire into decisions concerning when reproduction begins and the size of the resulting progeny.
The mean age at first motherhood was 18.23 years, and the mean length of birth intervals was 3.2 years. It is shown that mothers who began reproduction earlier had faster reproductive histories. The fx yielded an estimated individual reproduction value of 7.5, a value that is discussed and compared with those of other Indigenous populations from the Chaco and elsewhere in the world.
The early age at first motherhood among Wichí women and the high reproductive rate, together with birth intervals of moderate length, delineate a model of maximization of the distribution of energy allocated to reproduction throughout their life course, in socio-ecological contexts of limited resources.</text>

<text>The concept of Cultural Heritage was conceived as a state tool for cultural management (Endere, 2000). This implies that the state institution monopolizes rights over the totality of cultural assets it considers representative.
As a tool of the state symbolic system, the selection of an object from a potentially broad list implies an intellectual operation aimed at hegemonizing identity discourse (Prats, 2004). In this way, the objects elevated to the category of cultural heritage synthesize an identity project that brings into play all the institutions of the State in order to carry out a forced process of integration intended to homogenize the population within a national culture.
In this paper, we propose to analyze the process that extends from the selection of the element activated as heritage to its inclusion in the symbolic system that gives it meaning. How is an object selected? What relationship does political selection have with social recognition? How is meaning granted to the activated object? Toward whom is heritage discourse directed?
In order to fulfill our objectives, we will focus on the analysis of the heritage activations carried out in the Department of Tafí del Valle, province of Tucumán, among them the Park of the Menhirs, the reconstruction of the Ruins of Quilmes, and the creation of La Banda Museum.</text>

<text>This research was carried out in vulnerable neighborhoods of the city of La Rioja, Argentina. Its main objective was to describe the survival strategies used by women in these neighborhoods in order to make visible their important role as generators of social capital.
To this end, a survey was conducted in three neighborhoods in the eastern area of the city of La Rioja. A sample of 60 women was selected intentionally, on the basis of accessibility.
The study yielded an ambiguous result: on the one hand, it confirmed that women are the main users of relational social capital and are concerned with ensuring that it does not disappear; on the other hand, within the networks in which they move, their role is valued only as secondary or complementary.
Women in these sectors understand the notion that work in the private sphere should be carried out cooperatively; however, inequalities become visible in daily organization.
Although they are primarily responsible for building bridges among members of their households, community groups, and institutions, they consider themselves subordinated to the authority of their partners.
The notions of social capital and social network may be understood as either complementary or different. Is social capital an individual asset, or is it generated within a group? These are the questions that constitute the basis of the theoretical discussion presented through this research.</text>

<text>There are certain events that, because of their great impact and influence on the present, become the object of numerous historical accounts and new rewritings that reveal previously undeveloped aspects or relations. This is the case, for example, with the French Revolution. However, as Adam Schaff (1971) points out, although all historians agree on the importance of this event, each of them presents the Revolution in his or her own way. They often differ in the selection and description of the elements included, but, fundamentally, they differ in the way these elements are explained and interpreted.
This variety of readings raises the question of whether it is possible for any of these accounts to become established as the true account of the event it explains and, if so, what determines whether one account is true and another false. In particular, this problem reappears in renewed form in philosophies of history that relate historical narrative to literary narrative.
From Paul Veyne and Hayden White onward, the boundaries between historical and fictional narrative become uncertain, and the criterion that would make it possible to distinguish between historical and fictional narrative is no longer clear.
In this paper, we will analyze these questions by taking into account the logical distinction between truth and validity, a key distinction for illuminating the discussion between Hayden White and Roger Chartier on the claim to truth, while also considering Verónica Tozzi’s interpretation of White’s work.</text>

<text>In our time, the “disappearance” of the so-called “Speculative Philosophies of History” seems to be a fait accompli—at least within political and academic spheres of discussion—together with the consequent emergence, in the academic field, of a “new philosophy of history”. Abandoning the metaphysical pretensions and contaminations of speculative philosophers, this new philosophy recovers as its object of study issues proper to the philosophy of science and the analysis of language, while also showing interest in the epistemological status of historical narratives and in the ways in which they are constructed.
We live in times politically affected by different kinds of conflicts: economic and military invasions, religious and political fundamentalisms, economic, cultural, and military imperialisms, and millenarianisms. These phenomena only show us that, ironically, geopolitics seems not to have taken notice of the so-called “end of the metaphysical world”. Everything happens as if metaphysics had reached its end only in discourses and narratives, but not in political practices and their foundations.
In this paper, we will attempt to discuss the role of the Speculative Philosophy of History and its possible contributions to historians and historiography, in a world traversed by new forms of “historical narratives” that are apparently “empty” of metaphysical assumptions.
The importance of this study is not merely anecdotal. It may help researchers concerned with history to discover that, even today—in the so-called “world of the end of metaphysics”—there persist assumptions underlying human actions, which directly influence social praxis, transforming, mutating, and traversing it. These assumptions must be read and interpreted according to their function and origin.

</text>

<text>This paper presents reflections on the construction of the past in educational institutions, based on experiences in public archaeology, in which the role of archaeology contributes to drawing and blurring identities. Within this synergy, the presence of “others” from the past becomes visible, as they begin to form part of a present-day “we”.
The research projects, whose objective was to understand appropriations and meanings of archaeology in relation to the local past, were carried out in primary, secondary, and tertiary-level institutions, selected through non-probability sampling, specifically an opportunity sample. Guided visits to museums and archaeological sites, interviews, and graphic productions made it possible to understand processes of negotiation of representations in a multivocal context.
We observed that, although the educational community has been tangentially linked to archaeological practice for almost a century, the presence of contents related to this science in educational contexts is limited. However, the declaration of the Quebrada de Humahuaca as a World Heritage Site entailed the implementation of cultural policies that had an impact on some curricular aspects.
Thus, the state of the art in these institutions reveals antinomies related to the appropriation of material evidence from the past by educational actors. Different ethical-political and socioeconomic positions turn the curriculum into a field of tension. In this context, some researchers have begun to rethink our practices in light of what is known as “scientific mediation”, with the aim of contributing to a co-construction of the local past from the perspective of intercultural education.</text>

<text>The research problem was defined as the representations held by first-year students regarding their cultural capital and cultural identity, as well as the way in which they construct knowledge when beginning different higher-education programs, both university and non-university.
With regard to the methodological framework, we carried out participant observations and semi-structured interviews with first-year students in the Health Education and Social Communication degree programs at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. These instruments allowed us to begin collecting and systematizing information about what students understand by knowledge, their reasons for choosing a degree program, the factors that influence the production of knowledge, and the relationship between their personal interests and what the University offers. This is a hermeneutic methodology; that is, a process of interpretation that constantly relates texts—interviews and verbal expressions recorded during observations—to their specific spatio-temporal context.
These data are relevant when reviewing our teaching proposals, so as to respect the latent cultural diversity present in the classroom. To this end, we need to denaturalize the processes of differentiation that operate upon students, constituting violent and even wrenching experiences in their personal and family trajectories as a result of the unequal distribution and, therefore, acquisition of different forms of capital. This situation is institutionally legitimized, since the community of degree holders dominates society through the mediation of knowledge and classifies according to accumulated cultural capital. We consider that in Bourdieu and Foucault we can find some explanations for the social dynamics within educational institutions, characterized by the tension between habitus and field, which gradually configure cultural identities.</text>

<text>This article presents the results of a research project that studies the convergences between the question of intersubjectivity and that of recognition as developed by phenomenology, and more specifically in Husserl’s posthumously published work entitled Zur Phänomenologie der Intersubjektivität. These convergences make it possible to relocate several topics concerning the question of the Other and of alterity in the philosophies of E. Levinas, M. Merleau-Ponty, and P. Ricoeur.
We seek to deepen a phenomenological-ontological approach to the human and the interhuman, one that helps us to consider more radically some of the assumptions involved in the articulation between intersubjectivity and recognition in contemporary philosophy when it is mediated by the categories of the “other” and the “we”.
Here, in a critical and creative way, we develop Husserl’s original theses and those of his French interpreters, reworking them in order to seek the presuppositions of an intercultural philosophy of alterity, whose reformulations move both beyond and this side of Husserl.
These theoretical aspects of phenomenology seem to us crucial for understanding today the intercultural turn in contemporary philosophy.</text>

<text>From the perspective of critical hermeneutics, identities are understood as being constructed insofar as it becomes possible to confer meaning on events, ordering them into stories that are recognized and narrated as one’s own. In these stories, a tension is established between a past linked to tradition and inheritance and a future toward which one projects oneself from a present situation and context. We therefore assume that there are no cultures, groups, or subjects lacking intersubjectively constructed narratives.
We propose to address conceptions of the subject, the world, and life that become present in traditional oral narratives of the Andean cultures of Northwestern Argentina.
Among critical hermeneutic thinkers, such as Ricoeur and Habermas, and especially from Latin American perspectives, there emerges the need to listen to the voices of subjects expressed in popular narratives. These narratives open paths for understanding symbolic expressions of tensions related to conflictive socioeconomic and political situations characterized by the denial of dignity, both to human and nonhuman beings.
In this paper, we are particularly interested in exploring the richness of meanings of a resource always present in this type of text: metaphorical utterances. We postulate that, through them, regional popular discourse expresses a dynamic conception of the reality inhabited by its actors.</text>

<text>One of the axes that seems to have shaped the basis of our relations in the social and political field is the question of discourse. In all spheres of everyday life, whether public or private, discourses have become an undeniable social practice when analyzing the historical processes of our local, national, and regional reality.
Discourses constitute an apparatus of capture that shapes our way of being and existing in the world. For this reason, it becomes necessary to know and understand those discursive practices that we learned or were taught, since they shape and “control” our behavior, our opinions, our ways of relating to the Other, and our forms of participation in the social and political life of our peoples.
The objective is to analyze the mechanisms of discursive practices in the construction of our Latin American identity, taking as a basis the methodological process of certain Latin American projects that propose a perspective on the relations between the history of ideas and local emergences in social and political terms. The modernity/coloniality relationship constitutes one of the hegemonic discourses that postcolonial theories and subaltern studies attempt to deconstruct.
Many authors have worked on a different way of making and studying our history, and of making our philosophy. Intellectual work includes procedural suggestions concerning periodizations, different ways of understanding the concept of ideology, and the need to broaden the epistemological status of the methodology of the history of ideas in order to address the relations between the experience of alterity and historiography. This history fundamentally recovers the importance of the collective subject of ideas; for this reason, its greatest development has taken place in the political and social fields.</text>
