<text>The purpose of this work is to approach the continuities and ruptures between Harry Potter saga’s world of fans and the sport of Quidditch in Argentina, which is inspired by that work, but It’s shown as an independent activity. This will be worked on by analyzing the way in which fandom’s ethic appears in the sport studied. To achieve this, the history and recent controversies of the activity at a global and local level will be recovered, structuring the article around previous investigations, interviews and observations and the use of virtual ethnography. The existence of both continuities and ruptures between these areas is concluded, with fandom’s ethic playing a particular role: reject attitudes and meanings opposed to it that emerge from the Quidditch practitioners themselves, but also from the new challenges of the activity.</text>

<text>This article compares the gradual nationalization of SIAM Di Tella, carried out by the Revolución Argentina governments between 1966 and 1973, and the INDUPA nationalization, carried out during the government of C. Menem in 1994, with the main goal of finding the differences in the companies’ “rescue” run by “right-wing” or “pro-business” governments. With a comparative political economy approach and following the theory-building process tracing method, the hypothesis of this article affirms that there are differences in the political uses assigned by right-wing governments to nationalized companies, and that these differences depend on the participation or the absence of industrial bourgeoisie in government coalitions: if the industrial bourgeoisie integrates the government coalition and imposes its own pattern of reproduction, the companies a) will be rigorously retained in the public sector under broad political control by Executive branch, and b) they will be used to provide external economies to the bourgeoisie in a regulated market designed for their own protection; this will be observed in SIAM Di Tella case. On the contrary, if the industrial bourgeoisie is not part of the coalition, companies a) will not be retained but rather quickly returned to market and b) they will be used, paradoxically, to deregulate markets; this will be observed in INDUPA case.</text>

<text>The aim of this paper is to reconstruct the profiles of political involvement of 30 gay men who live in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Based on a research about their love stories in which, from a biographical approach, I asked about their political involvement, I reconstruct five profiles: activists, partners, disappointed, supporters and outsiders. The first three profiles are defined by their active militancy and permanence in it; although they differ in the temporalities in which action is expressed: the activists continue to militate; the partners have withdrawn, but they still support causes and struggles, unlike the disappointed who used to participate until they felt frustrated with politics. Meanwhile, neither the supporters nor the outsiders have ever militated, although the former ones are more interested in politics than the latter, who are not so much involved in it. As a conclusion, beyond the different profiles, there are transversal principles of politization according to the fact that these homosexuals belong to a collective of non-heterosexual identities in a polarised political situation.</text>

<text>This article analyzes the engagement of Unión Cívica Radical party’s youth activists in the student political life of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) in recent years. It argues that, faced with electoral collapse and loss of public office after the 2001 crisis, the party took advantage of its historical roots in this university for obtaining resources that, among others, allowed it to survive as an organization and reproduce its activism. The article shows that the university functioned as a refuge that served to recompose the intra-party life of a strongly weakened local organization. It was from within UBA’s politics that internal factions were formed, new grassroots committees were created and local leadership was renewed. The article analyzes the strategies of party’s student groups to preserve or regain their power at the university schools. It shows that, in order to maintain this valuable resource for their party, partisan groups tend to hide their party affiliation and develop a depoliticized repertoire of action oriented towards providing services to the students. The findings are based on fieldwork conducted between 2017 and 2018 in the City of Buenos Aires using qualitative research methods such as in-depth interviews, direct observations in party events, and documents and web pages content analysis.</text>

<text>The different portions of the Gran Chaco were belatedly incorporated into the respective national states and therefore, into the capitalist system. This paper analyses the relationship between travel, adventure, and the colonizing gaze of the region. The visual and textual sources we examine were produced by three travel experiences: Viaje al Río Bermejo (Trip to Bermejo River) (approx. 1915) which resulted in a travelogue with the same title, made by Max Glücksmann; Haeger Expedition (1920) which produced among other sources, a film in 1922, reversed in 1950; and the Montt & Fialho Expedition (1924), with a photographic album that includes a travel diary, we address. The analysis of these materials aims to ponder the adventurous or technical discourse with a gaze on the occupation and exploitation of the territory. The colonialist matrix is distinguished from the discourses and practices of a colonizing interest linked to the creation of colonies or territorial exploitations. Consequently, the main issues addressed in this paper are the modes of access to the territory and the construction of visual or symbolic cartographies; the roles of transport and infrastructure; the generation of agricultural colonies, and the availability of labour in these new spaces of capitalist expansion; the racialized image constructed on the indigenous population, which claims the colonialist and colonizing structure.</text>

<text>The article presents an epistemological review of the relationship between the energy dimension of habitat and its approach from the communication sciences. For this, the constitution of the field of communication sciences is exhibited, emphasizing its fertile and enabling condition to address Relevant Social Problems. It proposes to understand energy as an essentially socio-technical object and from communication to understand how energy policy is constructed as a relevant social problem. To this end, emphasis is placed on a public policy linked to habitat production, and research is retaken that, from the field of communication, addressed the public discussion around the increases in gas and electricity rates in 2016 in which they converged various political narratives. Thus, it is considered that the understanding of the mediatic functioning of senses that pretend to be hegemonic, such as the official discourse of the tarifazo (high and sudden increase in the rates of public services), accounts for the interstices to which communication allows access when the traditional forms (mediacentrism and sociocultural approach) of the work of the communicator/researcher and merge with other perspectives that complement it.</text>

<text>Being an unprecedented stressful situation, the COVID-19 pandemic may make people more likely to experience anxiety or sleep disturbances. The present investigation evaluated anxiety and sleep quality in 222 general population participants (ages 18 to 63; M = 32.87; SD = 9.53) and 132 health workers (ages 22 to 65; M = 34.74; SD = 9.76) of the City of Buenos Aires and the Greater Buenos Aires, in a pandemic situation, with the objectives of a) investigating the existence of significant differences in anxiety and sleep quality among the population general and health workers; b) analyze the existence of associations between anxiety and sleep quality in samples of the general population and of health workers; and c) study the relationship between the sociodemographic variables gender, place of residence, work modality, age group and level of education, and the variables anxiety and sleep quality, both in the general population sample and in that of health professionals. The administration of instruments was carried out online. When making a comparison using the Mann Whitney’s U, no significant differences were found in anxiety or sleep quality between both samples. By calculating Pearson’s r statistic, it was found that the magnitude of the association between anxiety and sleep quality was greater in the general population. When analyzing the relationship between the sociodemographic variables gender, place of residence, work modality, age group and level of education with the variables anxiety and quality of sleep, through a multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) significant effects were found for the gender and the level of education in the general population, and in the work modality in health workers. The results are discussed in relation to previous research and its implications.</text>

<text>The aim of this paper is to compare the legislative activity of political parties with parliamentary representation in two Argentine provinces, Entre Ríos and Santa Fe, during the period 1999-2019. To develop the analysis, it is proposed a classification of the enacted laws, based on two dimensions: the level of aggregation of the proposals and the issue or topic they address. The first dimension is in turn divided into four levels: provincial/general, municipal/departmental, sectoral, individual. The second dimension refers to the issues or topics addressed by the laws. It is divided into two subsets of issues or topics with the purpose of observing the interference of the representatives of the Executive and Legislative Powers in different policy areas. Thus, in the first place, we identify the legislative agenda of governors, linked to the promotion of laws with provincial or general aggregation about certain issues: state companies, tax legislation, budget and finance, state and government, public works, and services. Secondly, to evaluate the role of legislators in the legislative process, a second set of subjects linked to social, educational and health policies is described. This approach allows us to see different dynamics of party interaction between ruling party legislators and opposition legislators. It is concluded that, despite the majority electoral systems that regulate the competition of the parties in the two provinces, the non-official parties have been able to play a significant role in the drafting and sanction of various bills, particularly when the electoral results and the integration of the legislative chambers has shown greater parity and competitiveness among the main parties.</text>

<text>Adolescence cannot be studied independently of its social and cultural framework. It has been proved that adolescents living in poverty go through a series of material and emotional deprivations that impact on their lifestyles. It has been found that early experiences and relationships with the affective environment influence their self-perception. The aim of this paper was to analyze the perception of self-concept by vulnerable adolescents from Tucumán who were attending the first and last stages of secondary school. It was a non-experimental, cross-sectional, and descriptive-comparative study design. The participants were 263 adolescents from the first and last year attending four secondary state schools in Great San Miguel de Tucumán (Argentina). The Piers-Harris Children’s Self-Concept Scale, Casullo’s adaptation (1990) and a sociodemographic survey were administered. The first-year adolescents were found to refer more Popularity in relation to their graduating peers. Percentile categories were defined by taking the same sample as a normative group. Levels of the different dimensions of self-concept were established. 22% and 25% of first-year adolescents showed a higher level in the Body Image and Popularity dimensions, differing from their older peers. This research provided detailed data on the self-concept of adolescents who grow up in an unfavourable sociocultural environment. The school context variable did not affect the configuration of adolescents’ self-concept significantly.</text>

<text>Education provides knowledge, innovates, and enriches culture, spirit, and values. In this sense, economic policies prioritize the strengthening of educational systems at all levels on their agenda. Although in the Mexican case, the financing of the basic and upper secondary level is entirely in charge of the state, with respect to the higher level, it does not have the same scheme and its financing responds to different external factors. Likewise, elements such as growing demand, teaching quality, and an educational model that responds to society’s demand, are generally ignored, and with this, the allocation of resources is inefficient, generating situations of low educational quality and other weaknesses in schools educational systems. Under this scenario, financing in higher education and the strategies to achieve efficiency in its allocation and use, constitute a real challenge. In this document, the financing criteria for the Public Universities of Mexico are analysed, verifying their application in the allocation of the ordinary federal subsidy established by the Undersecretary of Higher Education, (Secretaría de Educación Superior (SES). For this, multivariate analysis techniques and information on the institutional productivity of 34 Public Universities are used. In turn, the allocation of resources to higher education in various countries is analysed, emphasizing the Mexican case. Finally, the results suggest that the institutional productivity criteria are not considered for the financing of higher education and that their increase or decrease is due to factors outside the sector, therefore, a strategy is proposed for their regularization for the benefit of the universities public.</text>

<text>Depression currently represents the most frequent diagnosis in mental health, however little is known about the perspectives of those who suffer from it. This article analyses from a sociological point of view the biographical narratives of the origin of depression in users of mental health services in the city of Santa Fe, Argentina. Inquire from life stories in the available discursive repertoires to make sense of the discomfort: What kind of stories about the origin of depression do they elaborate? Do they resort to more biomedical, psychotherapeutic, psychoanalytic or more political and rebellious discourses? From the perspectives of those who experience it: Is depression independent of external conditions or is it the product of lived events? Based on these questions, the article presents the results of an investigation focused on the use of the biographical method based on the analysis of forty-two in-depth interviews carried out with people who self-perceive suffering from depression and participate in different spaces therapeutic. The article describes, in dialogue with the results of other research, a multiplicity of ways to narrate the beginning of depression. Construct six types of narratives, two focused on the application of internalist explanatory keys, two externalist and two intermediate. These ways of making sense of the experience of depression locate the origin within the individual, in disturbing external events of identity and in an articulation of external and subjective conditions. In this social pathology of individuality, explanations are circumscribed to the private universe, centrally to the family nucleus. He concludes that beyond the diversity of narrative styles of causes, in these subjectivities there is a depoliticization of the origin of depression that leads to a privatization of the suffering experience.</text>

<text>This paper presents a review of seventy studies on the subject of pregnancy that have been carried out in some western countries between 1997 and 2018, including Spain, Australia, Colombia, Cuba, Venezuela, Argentina, Chile, Peru and Mexico. The search was done in the databases of Scielo, Ebsco, Google Academico, Dialnet and Redalyc. The review of some undergraduate, master’s and doctoral theses was also included. The findings are presented in seven thematic lines: 1) knowledge and traditions related to pregnancy; 2) access and quality of care in pregnancy; 3) experience, emotions and meanings of pregnancy; 4) Impact of the body transformations typical of pregnancy on the subjectivity of the pregnant woman; 5) influence of other social actors on pregnancy; 6) sociodemographic and sociocultural factors involved in pregnancy; 7) pregnancy, subjectivity and identity. The primacy of studies with the adolescent population stands out, as well as the increase, in the last 10 years, in the number of studies on pregnancy care (biomedical and humanized).</text>

<text>The present work aims to relate the structural isomorphism of the city with the citizens who live in it proposed by Plato in Republic, with the cities founded in Latin America in general and with the city of San Miguel de Tucumán – Argentina, in particular. Although the Platonic proposal refers to an ethical – political city, it is considered pertinent to extrapolate these notions to the physical city, its urban building fabric, while the urbanization of a region is a reflection of the existing social ties. The latter will be what the work will focus on analyzing from the field of philosophy with a hermeneutical – critical methodology of texts, understood in a broad sense. A brief historical tour of the urban landmarks in the cities established in Latin America from their origins to the 20th century will be carried out, with the intention of showing a basic parallelism between the physical city, from its foundation and its transformations and the urban societies that have inhabited them over time, the historical occurrence in them coming to play. Following Tatarkiewicz (2015), beauty has been one of the three supreme values in the West and, on the other hand, the original Greek concept of beauty has a broad meaning, which includes moral beauty, that is ethics and aesthetics. For this reason, it will be considered how the classical notion of beauty in Plato’s work is the basis of his foundations for an ideal city and the possibility of adapting these notions to the contemporary cities will be considered. Finally, the normative value of the Platonic ideal city, as a guiding horizon will be reworked in a current practical use, understood as the need to build physical cities in which all its inhabitants can fulfill themselves and achieve dignified living standards.</text>
