<text>We consider there is a Pre-inka chichas domain in the Puna region as well as in the southern Bolivia Valleys, its origins could be dated back to hunters and gatherers epochs, with a long continuity until the inka and colonial periods the centre of this longstanding tradition might be found in the Puna region at the Tarija valley, according to evidence found in the Sama Ange archeological diagnosis. An the other hand the ethnohistoric information, as well as the archeological near by regions and ethnographic data make us gather that the chichas spread from its own center to the argentine northwest, using complex road systems and llama caravans, the roads connected different sized populated centers, having different hierarchies. The chichas also interacted with other groups such as the Lipez, who allowed them to use their roads to the Pacific coast. The surviving of these caravans has been registered by some researchers. The information presented here opens a new chapter towards researching a longstanding cultural phenomenon as well as of significant importance in the formation process of the area cultural identity.</text>

As a result, these categories are susceptible to modification or adaptation depending on the problems under study. In the abstract, we cannot say that there are good or badproposals. We can only say whether a proposal is relevant or not to the problem for which such was constructed. The socio-cultural dynamic of the prehispanic populations was not limited by the cultural or ecological variations that we take into account when we define space categories. One clear example is the permanent interaction between settled populations in the lowlands and the highlands. In order to interpret the history and culture of prehispanic populations, it is important to define the relationships and boundaries of interaction between different populations. For such purpose, we can use the spatial concepts already in existence.</text>

<text>The study of power manipulation by Inka Empire on dominated populations could be reached through variables as architecture or pottery considered both as ways of control and dominion and ways of analysis to interpret institutions in terms of culture material. Because of its symbolic and coercive role, Inka pottery was used by Inka ruling elite in political activities, especially at provincialcenters, emphasizing the importance of the state as physical and symbolic sponsor. Inka pottery was characterized by forms, standardized designs, and highly controlled manufacturing of Imperial Inka style, although that was not the only production context supported by the state. In several Imperial provinces, the state promoted the production of local pottery and other high technological quality pottery as the examples in Qollasusu that in this occasion we introduce. For example, the Inkas appreciated Pacajes style pottery, from altiplano at the South of Titicaca Lake, that shows a wide distribution but in few amounts in Inka sites located in the mid south part of the empire, Yavi Chico Polychrome pottery style (or Chicha), and Inka Paya style with a wide distribution associated with inka contexts in NW Argentina archaeological sites. This text intends to inquire about the access linesto these preferential style potteries by Inkas in Qollasuyu, on the character of its distribution and on the existence or not of coordination at provincial level among pottery manufacturing, distribution, and transportation. To reach that topic we used a combination of compositional, morphological and stylistic pottery analysis whose results, although not definitive, bring us new light and broaden our knowledge about colonization and exchange networks.</text>

<text>Many researchers agree to establish the year 1954 as the beginning of High Mountain Archaeology, as a specialty within the practice of archaeology, when the naturally mummified body of a child approximately 8 (eight) years of age, was removed from the Cerro El Plomo (Lead Hill), Chile.(Schobinger, 1998; Echeverría, 1999). Even though the excavation was not done by archaeologists, the body and part of its belongings, were recuperated and studied by Doctor Grete Mostny, whose research and interpretations served as a base for subsequent findings and are still in vogue. (Mostny, 1957; Schobinger, 1999).The international repercussion of this find in Cerro El Plomo and the professional participation of Doctor Grete Mostny were responsible for presenting the scientific community with the knowledge of the practice of archaeology in the Andean high summits. Notwithstanding, there are preceding scientific studies done by professionals that did not have transcendence, such as the studies done in the Nevado de Chañi (Chañi Snowcapped Mountain) in 1901 by members of the Swedish expedition, led by Erland Nordenskiold, whom in our criteria, were those who wrote the first chapters in the history of High Mountain Archaeology.</text>

<text>“Beyond the Santa Bárbara mountains with the San Francisco river on its eastern side, there is a last guard position of the Andes mountain range towards the powerful dry virgin forest”. Thus Nordenskiöld described the SubAndean region of Jujuy in 1902, when he revealed the results of the first archaeological investigations in the San Francisco Valley, carried out by him and Boman, bothmembers of the so-called Swedish expedition. These explorations gave birth to a series of debates about the origin and antiquity of the groups that had occupied the eastern part of Jujuy in prehispanic times, and the first hypotheses about the topic were formulated then. After these pioneer works, there were several scientists interested in the area, fact that generated noticeable advances on the investigations. On this specific work, the contributions of the first explorers are revised and compared to new data and new hypotheses about the type of life these prehispanic groups had and which gave a start to the archaeological registry know so far for this area.</text>

Since shortly before the beginning of WWII and for half a century, the fluency of communications between archaeologists of both countries was interrupted. It was not until 1988, that the tradition once initiated by Nordenskld was revived through actions taken by the University of Gotemburgh and Stocolm (Sweden) and by archaeologist of the National University of Tucuman. The results of this bi-national experience as well the agreement between the universities of Gotemburgh and the National University of Tucuman are analyzed; the basis of which were:a) Foreign institutions that have an interest in working in our country must abide by existing legal regulations which state, as touching Tucuman, that any archaeological patrimony is property of the Province.b) The participation of foreign institutions must leave as a result for the region where works were conducted, not only new knowledge at a scientific research level, but an effective contribution as related to the development of local human resources.
c) All field documentation of any kind (notes, records, photographs, film, plans, etc.) constitute an inseparable part of the archaeological patrimony and it must be archived where other materials are kept. The experience was highly positive, as the terms agreed upon were fully observed and beneficial results for both sides were achieved without conflict.</text>
