The corpus consists of two songbooks: the one published by Ediciones Ideas Sueltas and Todo Jujuy en canciones, published by Cor-For Ediciones.

We do so knowing that we approach it from a perspective different from that of those who dealt with this work at the time of its publication. Our study is influenced by the contributions of literary theories that reached their height in the second half of the twentieth century and, inevitably but enrichingly, by the historical perspective provided by the passage of time.
Libertad Demitrópulos published only one book of poetry, Muerte, animal y perfume, which is sufficient to demonstrate the value of her poetic work. Our study will address two aspects. First, we will attempt to show how poetic meaning is realized at the semantic level within the poem itself. Second, we will study the place of the subject in signifying activity, centered on death as an isotopy of the poetry collection.]]> Nuestro propósito en este trabajo es rescatar de ese olvido la poesía de Libertad Demitrópulos y lo hacemos con el conocimiento de que lo realizaremos desde una mirada distinta de la de quienes se ocuparon de esta obra en su momento de publicación; nuestro estudio está influido por los aportes de teorías literarias que tuvieron su apogeo en la segunda mitad del siglo XX, e, inevitable pero en forma enriquecedora, por la perspectiva histórica que el tiempo transcurrido nos proporciona.

It consists of adult tombs with peculiar structural characteristics and black-polished surface pottery, about which only a few references are known.
The objects included in the mortuary offerings make it possible to estimate an early chronology, to gain a more precise knowledge of regional pottery, to glimpse aspects of mortuary behavior, and to trace connections with other Formative societies of Northwestern Argentina and the southern and Circum-Puna Andes.
The existence of possible Atacameño enclaves controlling circulation routes in the northernmost sectors of the Calchaquí Valley has been proposed; the case of Cancha de Paleta could be inserted into this type of situation.]]> Cancha de Paleta es uno de los dos cementerios localizados en la zona, constituidos por tumbas de adultos con características estructurales peculiares y alfarería de superficie negra pulida, de los que sólo se conocen algunas referencias.

From the perspective that basic production involves at least one local production space and another broader and not necessarily continuous one, this paper analyzes the Molinos River basin. Due to its permanent water flow, which allows soil formation, this basin is the largest in the central Calchaquí Valley and, at the same time, constitutes a communication route toward the Puna to the west and toward the east; it also opens onto the north-south communications of the Calchaquí valleys and their passes to the eastern region.
For agro-pastoral societies, land suitable for these activities is a fundamental resource, which occurs in very low proportions in the region. Cartographic and remote-sensing analyses make it possible to identify and measure productive spaces and agricultural-livestock infrastructure in the Molinos River basin.]]> Evaluar esta propuesta requiere, entre otros aspectos, profundizar en las características ambientales, áreas de recursos y remanentes de infraestructura productiva de las cuencas subsidiarias del valle Calchaquí.
Desde la perspectiva de que la producción básica involucra al menos un espacio de producción local y otro más amplio y no necesariamente continuo, se analiza la cuenca del río Molinos, que por el caudal acuífero permanente que permite la formación de suelos es la de mayor envergadura del valle Calchaquí central y a la vez constituye una vía de comunicación hacia la puna, hacia el oeste y hacia el este; se abre a las comunicaciones norte-sur de los valles Calchaquíes y sus pasos al oriente.
Para las sociedades agroganaderas, la tierra apropiada para esas actividades resulta un recurso fundamental, que en la región se presenta en muy baja proporción. One such proposal, developed by Loth and Henneberg (1996), is based on the analysis of the anatomical conformation of the inflection of the posterior border of the mandibular ramus. However, the diagnostic efficiency of this anatomical trait has been questioned by several authors.
Since the expression of sexual dimorphism may vary among populations, it is necessary to verify the effectiveness of the new procedure, particularly in the case of osteological materials of archaeological origin. The objective of this paper is to test the diagnostic efficiency of this technique using a set of mandibles belonging to skeletons recovered at the Formative site SJ Til. 20, Tilcara, Jujuy.
These are funerary findings from the Early Period, exceptional for the area and for the way in which the skeletal materials were recovered and treated. From an anatomical point of view, these materials show a strong general dimorphic expression. Taking into account this limited information, we decided to structure the study on the basis of the separate analysis of the skull and the pelvis, diagnostic anatomical structures conventionally considered the most representative of dimorphism, in order to visualize and define the degree of dimorphic expression observed at the intra- and inter-anatomical complex levels.
Our results show a low general expression of dimorphism in the individuals of Las Pirguas. Comparatively, the pelvises are more dimorphic than the skulls. I then focus on three significant moments: first, the creation of the “Park of the Menhirs” on Loma de la Angostura during the last military dictatorship, by order of the then governor, General Domingo Bussi, in 1977; second, the moment when, at the initiative of inhabitants of El Mollar, the Executive Branch ordered the transfer of these pieces, an action carried out in March 2002; and third, the situation of these assets under the current government administration, which began at the end of 2003.
The completion of the transfer and the subsequent preservation of the pieces constitute a personal experience for me, as Director of Historical and Anthropological Heritage of the Province from 1999 to 2004, when I served as Coordinator of the Commission created within the Secretariat of Culture to carry out the relocation of these stelae and their subsequent preservation. This situation allowed me to observe the tensions and divergences generated within the field of heritage by the different ideological positions of the social actors involved.
The proposal is to put into practice an authentic democracy concerning heritage, a practice that should be promoted by the State through cultural policies centered on respect for cultural plurality and aimed at making these assets socially accessible.]]> Esta indagación toma como punto de partida la década del 60, por cuanto es en este período cuando se inician las acciones del Estado Provincial y Nacional hacia estos bienes culturales, como así también de grupos conformados por pobladores y estudiosos del tema.
Luego, me centraré en tres momentos trascendentes: 1- Creación del “Parque de los Menhires”, en la Loma de la Angostura, durante la última dictadura militar, por orden del entonces gobernador general Domingo Bussi, en el año 1977; 2- Cuando, por iniciativa de habitantes de El Mollar, el Ejecutivo dispone el traslado de estas piezas; acción que se concretó en marzo del 2002; y 3- Situación de estos bienes a partir de la actual gestión de gobierno, iniciada a fines del 2003.
La concreción del traslado y su posterior preservación es una experiencia personal, como directora de Patrimonio Histórico y Antropológico de la Provincia (1999-2004), cuando cumplí la función de Coordinadora de la Comisión creada en el ámbito de la Secretaría de Cultura, para realizar el movimiento de estas estelas y su posterior preservación. Situación que me permitió observar las tensiones y divergencias que se generaron dentro del espacio del patrimonio por las diferentes posturas ideológicas de los actores sociales involucrados.

A comparative analysis is also carried out between these indicators and those from neighboring regions, especially the middle course of the Río Grande de San Juan, Vilama Lagoon, Yavi, Pozuelos, Rinconada, Cochinoca, Casabindo, and Susques, in the province of Jujuy, and southern Lípez, Bolivia.
Both in the environmental features of the region and in the recovered cultural contexts, distinctive characteristics were observed. This makes it possible to propose, as a hypothesis, a relative cultural particularity, as well as certain similarities with neighboring regions. Finally, the advances made regarding this problem are presented, concluding that during the Late-Inka Period, the headwaters of the Río Grande de San Juan would not only have been a transit zone, but also a region with stable settlements of some importance and permanent occupation.]]> Se analizan indicadores tales como emplazamiento y localización de sitios, patrón de asentamiento, construcciones agrícola-ganaderas, elementos relacionados con actividades rituales y/o sociales (menhires, montículos, entre otros), presencia de “hornos” (chullpas) de planta circular o elíptica y techo en falsa bóveda, alfarería y artefactos elaborados en piedra, madera y hueso. Asimismo, se realiza un análisis comparativo de estos indicadores con otros de regiones aledañas, especialmente curso medio del río Grande de San Juan, laguna de Vilama, Yavi, Pozuelos, Rinconada, Cochinoca, Casabindo y Susques (provincia de Jujuy) y sur Lípez (Bolivia).
Tanto en los rasgos ambientales de la región como en los contextos culturales recuperados, se observaron características propias, hecho que permite plantear, a modo de hipótesis, una relativa particularidad cultural, pero también algunas similitudes con regiones vecinas. In 1968, the archaeologist Jorge Fernández published a report on the site without having a radiocarbon date.
In 1973, the same archaeologist returned to the site and took the charcoal sample whose result is presented in this article. Before his death in 2001, Fernández sent the author an estimate of the absolute age, approximately 4000 years before present. This was confirmed by the radiocarbon date presented here, making it possible to state that the prehistoric occupation of El Pasaje dates to around 2000 B.C.
This article is completed with an analysis of the stone materials from El Pasaje deposited, through Jorge Fernández’s donation, in the Eduardo Casanova Museum in Tilcara, mainly the aforementioned grinding implements.
Finally, comparisons are made with other radiocarbon dates from the so-called “Archaic”, “Final Preceramic”, or “Protoformative” periods of the Argentine Puna, related to ancestral roads and passes to Chile.]]> El lugar del cual se tomó la muestra se llama “El Pasaje” y fue ocupado por los primeros pueblos sedentarios que aprovechaban las riquezas de la cuenca cerrada. En el año 1968, el arqueólogo Jorge Fernández publicó un informe al respecto sin contar con el fechado radiocarbónico.
En el año 1973, el mencionado arqueólogo volvió al sitio y tomó la muestra de carbón cuyo resultado se da a conocer en este artículo. Antes de fallecer en el año 2001, Fernández envió a la autora una estimación sobre la edad absoluta, que era de unos 4000 años antes del presente. Esto fue confirmado por el fechado radiocarbónico que se da a conocer aquí y así puede decirse que la ocupación prehistórica de El Pasaje es de unos 2000 años a. C.
Este artículo se completa con un análisis de los materiales en piedra de El Pasaje depositados, por donación de Jorge Fernández, en el Museo Eduardo Casanova de Tilcara, principalmente los mentados elementos para moler.

The concept of transit was used, examining the relationship between archaeological objects and movement, which in some way reflects an interrelation with their immediate surroundings.
The materials were analyzed using the iconographic method and from a semiotic perspective, relating them to their regional environment: sites in the Quebrada de Humahuaca and northern Chile.
An interesting iconographic correlation was observed, revealing the capacity of certain images to circulate through the Puna and move between both slopes of the Andes. This made it possible to contribute data to the discussion on the movement of material goods and ideas during the Regional Developments period.]]> Entendiendo al registro arqueológico como producto sociocultural de pueblos pretéritos, enmarcado en un paisaje que lo contiene y lo significa, el estudio de la cultura material se realizó desde las propuestas de la Arqueología del Paisaje. Se trabajó sobre el concepto de tránsito, examinando la relación que guardan los objetos arqueológicos con el movimiento, que de alguna manera refleja una interrelación con su entorno inmediato.
Se procedió al análisis de los materiales, a partir del método iconográfico y desde una perspectiva semiótica, relacionándolos con su entorno regional: sitios de la Quebrada de Humahuaca y del Norte de Chile.

In this sense, it is necessary to take into account that the production of services, such as transport, and wool, for textiles, influences the material record in the same way as meat production.
The elements selected in this paper are resources, including environment and herd, productive specialization, based on the analysis of animal fibers, the productive spaces used, and the settlement pattern.
Among the factors involved in the variability of the record, we consider those that produce phenotypic variability: environmental factors, factors internal to the animal, and the type of economic specialization. With regard to settlement, we consider mobility associated with the availability of pastures and water, as well as mobility associated with productive diversification.
The information comes from four localities in the province of Jujuy, Argentina—Susques, Rachaite, Timón Cruz, and Pozuelos—which present different pastoral strategies.]]> Esta reducción dificulta la comprensión de otros factores involucrados en la formación del registro material asociado a las actividades pastoriles, si consideramos que cada llama especializada tiene un manejo particular en cada unidad productiva.
En este sentido, debemos tener en cuenta que la producción de servicios (transporte) y lana (textiles) influye en el registro material del mismo modo que la producción de carne.
Los elementos seleccionados en este trabajo son los recursos (ambiente y rebaño), la especialización productiva (a partir del análisis de fibras animales), los espacios productivos utilizados y el patrón de asentamiento.
Entre los factores involucrados en la variabilidad del registro, consideramos aquellos que producen variabilidad fenotípica: ambientales, internos al animal y tipo de especialización económica; y en el asentamiento: movilidad asociada a la disponibilidad de pasturas y agua, y la asociada a la diversificación productiva.

Among them, the province of Catamarca presents a great diversity of environments and populated areas, ranging from 500 to 3,400 meters above sea level. Slightly more than 7% of births occur in areas located at altitudes above 1,500 meters.
In order to determine variations in birth weight according to geographic altitude in the province of Catamarca, births occurring between 1994 and 2003 were analyzed using vital statistics from the Dirección Provincial de Estadística y Censos. Measures of central tendency and dispersion of birth weight were obtained according to gestational age and sex. The proportions of normal birth weight (NBW), low birth weight (LBW), and very low birth weight (VLBW) were calculated by region. Comparisons between sexes and regions were established through analysis of variance. Statistically significant interregional differences and a negative correlation with altitude were found.]]> Con el objeto de determinar las variaciones del peso de nacimiento en función de la altura geográfica en la provincia de Catamarca, se llevó a cabo el análisis de los nacimientos ocurridos entre 1994 y 2003, para lo cual se utilizaron las estadísticas vitales de la Dirección Provincial de Estadística y Censos. Se obtuvieron los valores de tendencia central y dispersión del peso de nacimiento, en función de la edad gestacional y sexo. Fueron calculadas las proporciones de peso normal (PNN), bajo peso (BPN) y muy bajo peso (MBPN) por regiones. Las comparaciones intersexuales e interregionales fueron establecidas a través de análisis de la varianza.
