Salinger.

<text>This paper presents reflections on the construction of the past in educational institutions, based on experiences in public archaeology, in which the role of archaeology contributes to drawing and blurring identities. Within this synergy, the presence of “others” from the past becomes visible, as they begin to form part of a present-day “we”.
The research projects, whose objective was to understand appropriations and meanings of archaeology in relation to the local past, were carried out in primary, secondary, and tertiary-level institutions, selected through non-probability sampling, specifically an opportunity sample. Guided visits to museums and archaeological sites, interviews, and graphic productions made it possible to understand processes of negotiation of representations in a multivocal context.
We observed that, although the educational community has been tangentially linked to archaeological practice for almost a century, the presence of contents related to this science in educational contexts is limited. However, the declaration of the Quebrada de Humahuaca as a World Heritage Site entailed the implementation of cultural policies that had an impact on some curricular aspects.
Thus, the state of the art in these institutions reveals antinomies related to the appropriation of material evidence from the past by educational actors. Different ethical-political and socioeconomic positions turn the curriculum into a field of tension. In this context, some researchers have begun to rethink our practices in light of what is known as “scientific mediation”, with the aim of contributing to a co-construction of the local past from the perspective of intercultural education.</text>

<text>The research problem was defined as the representations held by first-year students regarding their cultural capital and cultural identity, as well as the way in which they construct knowledge when beginning different higher-education programs, both university and non-university.
With regard to the methodological framework, we carried out participant observations and semi-structured interviews with first-year students in the Health Education and Social Communication degree programs at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. These instruments allowed us to begin collecting and systematizing information about what students understand by knowledge, their reasons for choosing a degree program, the factors that influence the production of knowledge, and the relationship between their personal interests and what the University offers. This is a hermeneutic methodology; that is, a process of interpretation that constantly relates texts—interviews and verbal expressions recorded during observations—to their specific spatio-temporal context.
These data are relevant when reviewing our teaching proposals, so as to respect the latent cultural diversity present in the classroom. To this end, we need to denaturalize the processes of differentiation that operate upon students, constituting violent and even wrenching experiences in their personal and family trajectories as a result of the unequal distribution and, therefore, acquisition of different forms of capital. This situation is institutionally legitimized, since the community of degree holders dominates society through the mediation of knowledge and classifies according to accumulated cultural capital. We consider that in Bourdieu and Foucault we can find some explanations for the social dynamics within educational institutions, characterized by the tension between habitus and field, which gradually configure cultural identities.</text>

<text>This article presents the results of a research project that studies the convergences between the question of intersubjectivity and that of recognition as developed by phenomenology, and more specifically in Husserl’s posthumously published work entitled Zur Phänomenologie der Intersubjektivität. These convergences make it possible to relocate several topics concerning the question of the Other and of alterity in the philosophies of E. Levinas, M. Merleau-Ponty, and P. Ricoeur.
We seek to deepen a phenomenological-ontological approach to the human and the interhuman, one that helps us to consider more radically some of the assumptions involved in the articulation between intersubjectivity and recognition in contemporary philosophy when it is mediated by the categories of the “other” and the “we”.
Here, in a critical and creative way, we develop Husserl’s original theses and those of his French interpreters, reworking them in order to seek the presuppositions of an intercultural philosophy of alterity, whose reformulations move both beyond and this side of Husserl.
These theoretical aspects of phenomenology seem to us crucial for understanding today the intercultural turn in contemporary philosophy.</text>

<text>From the perspective of critical hermeneutics, identities are understood as being constructed insofar as it becomes possible to confer meaning on events, ordering them into stories that are recognized and narrated as one’s own. In these stories, a tension is established between a past linked to tradition and inheritance and a future toward which one projects oneself from a present situation and context. We therefore assume that there are no cultures, groups, or subjects lacking intersubjectively constructed narratives.
We propose to address conceptions of the subject, the world, and life that become present in traditional oral narratives of the Andean cultures of Northwestern Argentina.
Among critical hermeneutic thinkers, such as Ricoeur and Habermas, and especially from Latin American perspectives, there emerges the need to listen to the voices of subjects expressed in popular narratives. These narratives open paths for understanding symbolic expressions of tensions related to conflictive socioeconomic and political situations characterized by the denial of dignity, both to human and nonhuman beings.
In this paper, we are particularly interested in exploring the richness of meanings of a resource always present in this type of text: metaphorical utterances. We postulate that, through them, regional popular discourse expresses a dynamic conception of the reality inhabited by its actors.</text>

<text>One of the axes that seems to have shaped the basis of our relations in the social and political field is the question of discourse. In all spheres of everyday life, whether public or private, discourses have become an undeniable social practice when analyzing the historical processes of our local, national, and regional reality.
Discourses constitute an apparatus of capture that shapes our way of being and existing in the world. For this reason, it becomes necessary to know and understand those discursive practices that we learned or were taught, since they shape and “control” our behavior, our opinions, our ways of relating to the Other, and our forms of participation in the social and political life of our peoples.
The objective is to analyze the mechanisms of discursive practices in the construction of our Latin American identity, taking as a basis the methodological process of certain Latin American projects that propose a perspective on the relations between the history of ideas and local emergences in social and political terms. The modernity/coloniality relationship constitutes one of the hegemonic discourses that postcolonial theories and subaltern studies attempt to deconstruct.
Many authors have worked on a different way of making and studying our history, and of making our philosophy. Intellectual work includes procedural suggestions concerning periodizations, different ways of understanding the concept of ideology, and the need to broaden the epistemological status of the methodology of the history of ideas in order to address the relations between the experience of alterity and historiography. This history fundamentally recovers the importance of the collective subject of ideas; for this reason, its greatest development has taken place in the political and social fields.</text>

<text>This paper offers a reflection on interdisciplinarity in a research project conceived and undertaken at the confluence of translation studies, philosophy, and historical anthropology. As an illustrative object of this reflection, we take oral linguistic mediation, or language interpreting, in the particular context of the parliaments held on the Araucanian frontier.
We show how the object of study was constructed interdisciplinarily and describe the methodology employed. Finally, we discuss the complexities we encountered and the possibilities that, in our view, interdisciplinary dialogue opens up for the exploration of certain objects of study whose monodisciplinary treatment may yield limited results.</text>

<text>This article begins with the characterization of the contemporary migratory phenomenon as “the major political phenomenon of our time” (Balibar, 2005). Introducing a nuance of Foucauldian origin into this statement, it may be considered a phenomenon of a “biopolitical” nature, since it makes evident the population, health, education, and labor policies of contemporary nation-states, which are totally or partially subject to the various dynamics of globalization.
Within this framework, migrations to Argentina over the last forty years, mainly those from neighboring countries and other Latin American countries, display features that clearly differentiate them from earlier migrations, both in terms of their ethnic origin and cultural characteristics and because of their preferential settlement in urban conglomerates, which gives them greater visibility.
This contribution presents some philosophical questions raised by this phenomenon. From the perspective of intercultural philosophy, it defends the dynamic, historical, and negotiated character of cultures. This locus enuntiationis makes it possible to fully assess the ascriptions of identity manifested in the urban construction of the otherness of migrants from neighboring countries and, by extension, Latin American migrants.
The aim is to show the incidence of these imaginary ascriptions by the society technically referred to as the “host society” on the subjective vulnerability—construction of subjectivity and empowerment—and objective vulnerability—participatory exercise of citizenship—of migrant men and women. For practical purposes, the article points to the gap between migration legislation, which enshrines the human right to migrate, and habitual practices that arise from racist and xenophobic imaginaries.</text>

<text>When we set out to carry out research in the field of the humanities and social sciences, we are actualizing—even if we are not always aware of it—the question of the human being; that is, the question that constitutes the core of humanism, on whose answer the development of scientific knowledge has depended from modernity to the present day.
The word humanism refers to a cultural tradition rooted in the European Renaissance. It implies certain cultural and pedagogical experiences and presupposes a particular organization and institutionalization of knowledge and practices which, while revealing some aspects of reality, at the same time conceal others. We propose to dismantle some still-current assumptions of humanism from a critical Our-American perspective.
On the one hand, we appeal to the notion of the “imaginary” as both a condition of possibility and a creative power of the human being (Castoriadis, 1993). On the other hand, we draw on the notions of “diversity”—as the privileging of a logic that favors space and the concrete richness of the contents of knowledge—and the constitutive “historicity” of the human being—as a normative criterion for the realization of human capacities and possibilities (Ellacuría, 1992).
We maintain that it is possible to trace, within our tradition of thought, an alternative form of humanism that may be characterized in intercultural terms.</text>

<text>Housing spaces can actively or elusively express the values of a society at a given time, providing an image of the expectations and possibilities of a domestic group. In this sense, they represent a field in which battles of a material and symbolic order are fought, making it possible to understand aspects of both social relations and the conception of nature.
The genealogy of the category of rancho entails a long history of subalternization, having been functional to colonial, modernizing, and neoliberal policies, and serving as a gateway for state intrusions into rural spheres. This paper presents part of the results of an ethnoarchaeological study on vernacular architecture, which made it possible to identify the model characteristics of settlement systems in the District.
During the past century and so far in the present one, this model has been repeatedly challenged through the implementation of state policies under the stigmatizing definition of rancho architectures, without any analysis of the suitability of their designs or of the materials used in them.
Finally, from the exercise of a socially useful archaeology, the paper raises the ethical relevance of architectural intervention through the construction of the Reception and Interpretation Center of the Integral Museum of the Laguna Blanca Biosphere Reserve, affiliated with the National University of Catamarca.</text>

The general objective of this study was to investigate linked, group and institutional processes that expressed suffering and creativity in secondary schools. In this article, we analyze some aspects of the group process in the classroom, occurred after the suicide of a 4th year student who attended a public educational institution in the city of San Salvador de Jujuy. During 2011, this fact irrupted into the students´ daily life, producing a situation of crisis where latent aspects generated suffering, as well as expressions of the institutional processes of the current secondary school. The work was approached from the perspective of social psychology founded by Enrique Pichon Rivière. The research was an exploratory study which followed the qualitative logic. According to this, participant observations and open interviews to the students were carried out. After listening to some members of the class and the analysis done, we reflected on suicide, a social emergent, where the subject is a social spokesperson of what happens in the family and educational context framed in a social order that determines it. Keywords: crisis, high school, spokesman, suicide, suffering.</text>
