<text>The development of educational experiences organized by the Center for Research and Studies in Higher Education (CIEES), together with the results of the research project “University Student Attrition: The Incidence of Endogenous and Exogenous Factors in the Academic-Curricular Process”, provides the starting point for a reflection on the need to rethink the curricular organization of higher education offerings.
These issues encompass a wide range of problems that require analysis: the adequacy of university training processes in relation to the professional profile; the culture of ease and least effort versus the culture of work; the explicit definition of the new configuration of the entering student’s profile in connection with labor demands; and the incidence of the new labor scenario on the “new vocation” for short-cycle and distance degree programs, perhaps virtual ones. In short, they call for the clarification and redefinition of the university’s function within the framework of new educational demands.
The problem of student attrition constitutes the axis of the discussion about the meaning of the university institution in society and raises concern about its positioning in a context whose dynamics challenge it to redefine itself permanently. This concern entails the risk of becoming an obsession with finding “the cause of attrition” and with granting a single variable exclusive, determining, and decisive incidence. In this way, the conception of a multicausal and multidimensional process is blurred, although each variable acquires its own significance according to its particular interaction with the others.
Assuming this reality requires, on the one hand, overcoming the naivety of ignoring the implications of becoming trapped in the demands of a market logic that justifies a university education constrained by that logic. On the other hand, it requires recognizing the mismatches between the internal dynamics of an academic-curricular process and the rules of the game of a historically contextualized political, economic, and sociocultural development.</text>

<text>The research project “University Student Attrition: The Incidence of Endogenous and Exogenous Factors in the Academic-Curricular Process” was designed to produce specific and relevant information related to the problem of student attrition at the National University of Santiago del Estero. Its purpose was to provide basic input for decision-making at both the institutional management and academic-curricular management levels, aimed at improving educational quality.
In order to investigate factors exogenous to the academic-curricular process, information on students’ sociodemographic and cultural characteristics was collected through surveys. For the analysis of endogenous factors, documentary sources were consulted and semi-structured interviews were conducted, allowing us to examine the representations of students, parents, and teachers regarding “school failure”.
The analysis and interpretation of the representations of these three groups of actors reveal partial perspectives. On the one hand, there appears to be a naturalization of the problem, which evidences an absence of critical reasoning and the consequent denial of the possibility of solving it. On the other hand, responsibility for the deficits of incoming students is attributed to the low educational quality of the previous level, thereby overlooking the university’s co-responsibility and disregarding the impact of these deficits on the actual quality of education. Likewise, when teachers recognize this impact, they place responsibility for the solution at the institutional level, as both a direct and abstract referent.
It is therefore possible to ask to what extent the educational system, institutional educational management, and the actors themselves provide the conditions for producing and/or strengthening an attitude that, based on recognition of the problem, commits itself to integrating theoretical and empirical analyses with real efforts to achieve effective progress in reducing student attrition rates.</text>

Environmental and topographic characteristics may determine the isolation and adaptation of populations, leading to genetic differentiation. In order to test this relationship, genetic variables and demographic parameters were considered.
In the Puna, erythrocyte groups were analyzed in Santa Rosa de los Pastos Grandes, Tolar Grande, and Cobres; leukocyte groups in Cobres; constitutive heterochromatin in Tolar Grande and Cobres; and STRs in San Antonio de los Cobres and Cobres. In addition, indicators of Genetic Demography were considered in Santa Rosa de los Pastos Grandes, Tolar Grande, Olacapato, San Antonio de los Cobres, and Cobres. In the Lerma Valley, demographic-genetic parameters were estimated in San Agustín and Chicoana, while in the Chaco constitutive heterochromatin was analyzed. Data from Matson et al. (1969) and Pagés Larraya (1978), referring to erythrocyte groups from the Calchaquí Valley and the Chaco, were also incorporated into the analysis.
The microevolutionary processes studied, Natural Selection, Genetic Drift, and Gene Flow, were examined through measures of intra- and interpopulation genetic variability, Indices of Opportunity for Natural Selection, and coefficients of inbreeding and reproductive isolation. The results show strong and continuous contact among populations, moderate differentiation, and, in some cases, high inbreeding.</text>

This article aims to shed light on the general characteristics of labour conflicts in intermediate cities, focusing on Tandil as a case study for the period 2016–2020. Data from the Ministry of Labour, Employment, and Social Security (MTEySS) labour conflicts database are put in dialogue with qualitative sources, including interviews with union representatives and local media. A comparative analysis of statistical data on labour conflicts in Tandil with those at the national and provincial levels reveals more similarities than differences but highlights specific features, such as: a) a low incidence of street mobilizations; b) the predominance of the private sector, particularly the metallurgical industry, in layoffs-related protests; and c) the predominantly local scale of conflicts. These findings are explained by putting them in dialogue with the bibliography on cultural traits of intermediate cities and the qualitative sources surveyed, which warn, on the one hand, about the practices of social stigmatization in these urban environments towards those who participate in protests and, on the other, the central role the metallurgical sector assumes in mobilizations, fundamentally linked to its centrality in local historical identity.</text>

<text>Since 1951, television has been operating as an audiovisual industry of high commercial, artistic and cultural value and impact. However, the preservation of television programs is not guaranteed by Argentine law. The multiple nature of television content complicates the issue because the degree and type of protection varies according to its conceptualization as commercial assets, audiovisual works or cultural property. Based on the exhaustive analysis of Argentine legislation, this article investigates the value that the State confers on audiovisual television records. In order to identify which specific aspects are protected, which are not and the reasons behind these decisions, the work addresses the historical regulations of national scope related to media, audiovisual work and documentation. In the first section, the successive broadcasting and audiovisual communication laws are examined to study the meaning and level of attention given to the practice of registration and archiving. In the second section, it investigates the tensions between the restriction and the opening of access to audiovisual television documents that arise from the application of the Intellectual Property Regime, as well as the lack of specificity and lack of implementation of the rules related to the safeguarding of cultural and documentary heritage.</text>

<text>The objective of this article is to present a proposal for an analysis model of image macro memes. From the revision of theoretical perspectives such as the image pragmatics by Pericot, enunciation by Benveniste, enunciative polyphony by Ducrot and transtextuality by Genette, the analysis was applied to a meme that integrates two other memes widely disseminated on social media. It is concluded that a meme of image macro is a digital visual content with an iconic-linguistic structure, has a story and a possible world due to its pragmatic dimension, contains a polyphonic discourse particularly humorous and is an example of intertextuality where different levels of relationship between texts are present.</text>
