(The role of social policies in the formation, regulation and reproduction of the workforce. An analysis for urban Argentina in the 21st century)

This article seeks to analyse the role of the state in regulating and reproducing labour surpluses for capital accumulation needs, with an emphasis on gender differences, during the developmentalist (2003-2015) and neoliberal (2015-2019) accumulation models. By combining perspectives from critical state theory with feminist approaches, the research engages in a dialogue between methodologies for measuring these surpluses and the analysis of the populations benefiting from social policies in Argentina during the 21st century. As a result, there are observed continuities during these periods in terms of the massification and feminization of social policies, while differences highlight nuances in the contrasting social effects of the development models implemented in recent years.
