Martín Chambi (1891-1973)Fantasmas de la memoria andina.Las huellas del pasado, han quedado impresas en la fotografía. Son segmentos de realidades escritas por la luz y modeladas por el lente del fotógrafo.Instantes que nos narran momentos vidas que han sido y que hoy, transformados en sus fantasmas se resisten al olvido. Todos ellos congregados por el fotógrafo a través del encuadre y la toma, que lo distingue en su manera personal de ver y comprender el mundo.Ante el olvido, la memoria, que en las imágenes de Martín Chambi podemos recuperar en las calles y los alrededores de Cuzco. Su mirada describe su historia y la historia de su pueblo, la cual a través de su lente, intenta dignificar.

They are segments of realities written by the light, and shaped by the photographer’s lens.Instants that tell us about moments, about lives which have existed in the past, but now, turned into ghosts, are reluctant to be forgotten. All of them, are congregated by the photographer, through frames and shots which make him unique in his personal way of viewing and understanding the outside world.Memory against forgetfulness, a memory we can recall by means of Martin Chambi’s images about the streets and the surroundings of Cuzco.
