APROXIMACIÓN AL ESTUDIO DE LA PRODUCCIÓN AGRÍCOLA PREHISPÁNICA EN ALFARCITO (JUJUY, ARGENTINA)

AN APPROACH TO THE STUDY OF AGRICULTURAL PREHISPANIC PRODUCTION AT ALFARCITO (JUJUY, ARGENTINA

Aquí se exponen algunos resultados parciales sobre el uso y manejo del suelo y el riego en la producción agrícola prehispánica en la cuenca del río Huasamayo (Tilcara, Jujuy). El territorio total cuenta con 150 km2, posee sitios multicomponentes de habitación con ocupaciones de los Períodos Temprano a Hispano- Indígena y sectores diversos con infraestructura específi ca relacionada con la producción agrícola.
Para abordar la organización de la producción en la cuenca y los criterios seguidos en la elección de los sectores sembrados, se elaboró una tipología de las estructuras agrícolas mediante el uso de imágenes satelitales y observaciones en el campo.
La diversidad interna se ve refl ejada en la disposición, la densidad y los emplazamientos que toman las estructuras agrícolas, variables que se utilizaron para acceder a la información que aquí se presenta.

Partial achievements are referred to the use, soil management and irrigation in the prehispanic agricultural production areas of the Huasamayo basin (Tilcara, Jujuy). This area covers 150 km2 with multi-component habitation sites form Early to Hispanic times, and has different areas with specifi c infrastructure related to the agricultural production.In order to make an approach to the production organization in the basin, and to settle the criteria for the selection of the fi elds to study, a typology of the agricultural structures has been elaborated through satellite images and fi eld observations.The internal diversity is refl ected in the disposition, density and placing of the agricultural structures, variables that have been used to present the obtained information.
