What are the conditions of media visibility for the victims. Journalism and the rights factory on the edges of Latin America. Journalism and the rights factory on the edges of Latin America
CUÁLES SON LAS CONDICIONES DE LA VISIBILIDAD MEDIÁTICA PARA LAS VÍCTIMAS. EL PERIODISMO Y LA FÁBRICA DE LOS DERECHOS EN LOS BORDES DE AMÉRICA LATINA
Materia
Descripción
The Latin American situation creates particular conditions for the victims' access to the media and this affects how their demands are achieved or not. We call "victims" people or groups who demand that a right be recognized. In the first place, the journalistic scenario that the victims face will be analyzed here. It will be called the triple hybridity regime, and it is made up of mainstream journalism, alternative journalism, and active digital users. Seven characteristics are listed that suggest that journalism is transitioning to a more marginal position. Secondly, it will describe the six main access routes for victims to that scenario. This investigation is based on a main hypothesis that the relationship that journalism maintains with the victims influences the understanding of how rights travel in the public arena, either towards their consolidation or towards their disappearance.
