YACIMIENTO DE MORALITO, SAN PEDRO DE JUJUY, PROVINCIA DE JUJUY (Argentina)

MORALITO DEPOSIT, SAN PEDRO DE JUJUY, JUJUY PROVINCE

Se presentan en este trabajo las características principales y los trabajos efectuados en Moralito, un importante y extenso yacimiento arqueológico perteneciente a la Cultura San Francisco. El sitio está ubicado aproximadamente a dos kilómetros de la localidad de Arrayanal, en el departamento de San Pedro de la provincia de Jujuy (noroeste argentino), en el borde del distrito de selva o bosque pedemontano que actualmente está reemplazado por vegetación xerófila chaqueña que se presenta en esta zona a manera de islas al interior de un paisaje de yungas. Se cuenta con diez dataciones radiocarbónicas que ubican temporalmente a losrestos arqueológicos en una antigüedad de alrededor de dos milenios. El presente es un informe sintético del estado actual de los conocimientos sobre Moralito.

The basic characteristicses and the works conducted in Moralito, an important and extensive archaeological deposit pertaining to the Culture appear in this work San Francisco. The site is located approximately to two kilometers of the locality of Arrayanal, in the department of San Pedro of the province of Jujuy (the Argentine northwest), in the edge of the district of forest or pedemontano forest that at the moment is replaced by vegetation xerófila chaqueña that appears in this zone to way of islands to the interior of a landscape of yungas. One tells on ten radiocarbónicas datings that they locate temporarily to the archaeological rest in an antiquity of around two millenia. The present it is a synthetic report of the present state of the knowledge on Moralito.
