NUEVOS AVANCES EN TORNO A LAS INVESTIGACIONES ARQUEOLÓGICAS EN LAS TIERRAS BAJAS DE JUJUY (SUBÁREA SAN FRANCISCO)

NEW ADVANCES AROUND THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL RESEARCH IN THE LOW LANDS OF JUJUY (SUBÁREA SAN FRANCISCO)

Las investigaciones arqueológicas en la subárea del río San Francisco se remontan a principios de siglo habiéndose formulado numerosas hipótesis, con respecto a la naturaleza y organización socio-económica de los grupos que ocuparon la región a lo largo de más de un siglo de estudios en esa área.Debido a la evidencia disponible hasta el momento para esta región de la provincia de Jujuy y los datos de regiones aledañas, creemos que esta zona por su carácter de área fronteriza entre las tierras altas del oeste y las planicies del este, fue clave para la ocupación y la dinámica poblacional, siendo el escenario donde se desarrollaron procesos de una complejidad mayor que la pensada hasta hoy.Tomando en cuenta los antecedentes de investigación llevados a cabo en años anteriores, se pensó que un enfoque metodológico de tipo “distribucional” con una perspectiva regional era el más adecuado para encarar estudios procesuales en una región donde la evidencia empírica conocida plantea más interrogantes que respuestas. Se dan a conocer los resultados de las nuevas investigaciones desarrolladas obtenidos hasta el presente así como las interpretaciones generadas a partir de los resultados parciales logrados.

Archeological researchs in the subarea of the River San Francisco has started in the beginning of the last century. It has been formulated number of hypotheses, about the nature and socio economical organization of the groups that occupied the region for more than one hundred years studies in this area.
Given the available evidence for this region of the Province of Jujuy until now and the data from neighbor regions, we believe that this zone, according to its borderlands character between west highlands and east plains, was crucial for the occupation and population dynamic. It was also the scenery where more complex processes had place.Working on the results coming from previous researchs, we have thought of a methodological positioning of a distribution type, proposing that a regional perspective was the most suitable for focusing on processes studies into a region where the available empirical evidence brings more questions than answers. Results coming out from new developed researchs are exposed in this article as well as the emerging interpretations from the partial results obtained.
