LA MIRADA Y EL OBJETO UNA BREVE VISITA DE ERLAND NORDENSKÖLD A LOS YURAKARE DE BOLIVIA

THE SIGHT AND THE THING A BRIEF VISIT OF ERLAND NORDENSKJÖLD TO THE YURAKARÉ INDIANS OF BOLIVIA

Mientras los pueblos de las selvas sudamericanas pasaban de la oscuridad a la luz, muchos antropólogos estaban tan interesados por conocerlos como por coleccionar sus cosas. Así, las monografías resultantes aumentaron las bibliotecas y los objetos enriquecieron los museos europeos. Nordenskjöld es un paradigma de este reciente período de la investigación antropológica. Los objetos exóticos transportados a un mueble rompieron sus lazos con la realidad, pero dieron a los ojos de los europeos una imagen representativa de los primeros estadios de la civilización. La breve visita de Nordenskjöld al piedemonte andino de Bolivia nos permite proporcionar algunos datos sobre el pasado de una de las tribus menos conocidas de las tierras bajas sudamericanas.

Meanwhile the South American forest peoples were trespassing from the darkness to the light, many anthropologist were so interested to know them as to collect their things. So as monographs resulted grew the libraries, the things gave wealth to the European Museums. Nordenskjold is a paradigm of this recent period of the anthropological research. The exotic things transported to a furniture broke their links with reality, but provided to European eyes a representative image of the first stage of civilization. The brief visit of Nordensköld to the Bolivian Andean piedemont allows us to provide some data over the past of one of the less known tribes of South America lowlands.
