Infamación, violencia y locura. Salta a fines del siglo XIX

Infamy, violence, and madness are issues that arise at a given time and in a given space, with their local particularities and also with similarities and continuities between the past and the present. Foucault’s thought allows us to reveal what is hidden and to make visible what is invisible.
We must glimpse the real problems of daily life in Salta, at the end of the nineteenth century. We have to move away from the anecdote to theorize about social differences and to be able to analyze how power operated in relation to the transgressor, the criminal, and the mad person.

Infamación, violencia y locura constituyen problemáticas que se dan en un tiempo y espacio con sus particularidades locales y también con semejanzas y continuidades entre el ayer y el hoy. El pensamiento foucaultiano nos permite revelar lo oculto y hacer visible lo invisible. Se trata de entrever problemas reales en los que está inmersa la vida cotidiana en la Salta de fines del siglo XIX. Alejarnos de la anécdota para teorizar sobre las diferencias sociales y poder analizar cómo funcionaba el poder frente al transgresor, el delincuente, el loco.
Nuestro universo de análisis lo constituirán los “infames” de la pueblerina Salta a través de las pesquisas en las vidas de varones y mujeres que se ubican con exactitud en tiempo y lugar.
