Revisiting Old Questions: New Evidence on Chronology and Spatial Organization at the Tres Cruces Site (Quebrada del Toro, Salta)

Revisando antiguas cuestiones: nuevas evidencias acerca de la cronología y organización del espacio en el sitio Tres Cruces (Quebrada del Toro, Salta)

The objective of this paper is to present the partial results of the archaeological research currently being carried out at the site of Tres Cruces, Quebrada del Toro, Salta. In this sense, the problems related to the site are briefly discussed, and the fieldwork conducted so far is described in detail.
This work included surveys of the area, the preparation of a site map, and the recording of the architectural characteristics of the structures visible on the surface. In addition, two of these structures were systematically excavated.
A preliminary characterization of the site and of the recovered materials is provided. The results obtained so far suggest greater complexity, both in the spatial organization of the site and in its cultural history, than that proposed by previous research.

El objetivo de este trabajo es dar a conocer los resultados parciales de las investigaciones arqueológicas que actualmente estamos desarrollando en el sitio Tres Cruces (Quebrada del Toro, Salta). En este sentido, se discute brevemente la problemática del sitio y se detallan los trabajos de campo llevados a cabo hasta el momento. Estos últimos incluyeron la realización de prospecciones del área, el levantamiento de un mapa del sitio y el registro de las características arquitectónicas de las estructuras observables en superficie. Además, se excavaron sistemáticamente dos de estas estructuras. Se brinda una caracterización preliminar del sitio y los materiales recuperados. Los resultados obtenidos hasta el momento sugieren una complejidad mayor, tanto en la organización espacial del sitio como en su historia cultural, que la planteada por investigaciones anteriores.
