The Labyrinth of the Gaze: The Museum as a Space of Meaning

El laberinto de la mirada. El museo como espacio del sentido

This paper approaches museum space as a syncretic space of signification. It seeks to establish a first typology capable of organizing the conceptual space of Fine Arts museums and defines, in terms drawn from Greimasian-inspired semiotics, the elements that constitute the museum as a space for the manipulation of the visiting subject.

Se aborda en este artículo el espacio museístico como espacio sincrético de significación. Se trata de establecer una primera tipología capaz de organizar el espacio conceptual de los museos de Bellas Artes y se definen, en términos tomados de la semiótica de inspiración greimasiana, los elementos que constituyen el museo como espacio de la manipulación del sujeto visitante.
